Pay TV and radio-broadcasting licence has not come cheap

That's ridiculously cheap. Still it might serve to weed out some less able contenders. Lets face it if they cant afford r100k to apply (and 1.6% of annual turnover) they're never going to be able to roll out.

Lets just hope that once they pay the fee ICASA doesnt bugger around and actually licenses them. They should refund any they turn down.
 
Seeing as its satellite broadcasting and there's presumably not major issues with frequency spectrum etc. do they even need to be licensed? Why not let the free market rule>

Got an example of where that happens?

I wont even ask that it be successfully implemented but it wouldnt hurt.
 
At least we now know that ICASA cant say it hasn't got any money 18*100000= R1.8mil surely they can now afford to solve the ADSL regulation confusion?
