Apple starts selling movies at online store

Exactly. The pricing has probably been pushed on apple by the movie industry but that doesn't make it any easier to accept.
At that price it simply doesn't make sense to buy your movies through the apple store.
Wouldnt say the industry as most of the players are still not on-board. This is all Jobs and Disney and IMO an atypical mistake in judgement.
They may not be on-board yet but I'm pretty sure he plans to get them on-board soon so he had to structure the price in a way they might accept.
I reallly doubt Jobs personally believes that this price is good for the consumer.

Job's isnt known for doing anything other than what he wants. Still, I'm surprised (to say the least) that they announced the iTV before its ready to go - maybe things are changing there?

No doubt, but I am sure he wants it to work, and those prices really shouldnt work. Perhaps he is betting that stupidity and laziness will win out over common sense. I guess its not a bad bet...
It will do ok. Nothing spectacular, but ok. Why? Becuase it is tied into iTunes, so the convenience of buying from the same place with the same account is there. I might buy one or two just to see a video before it finally arrives in the art circuits here in SA. (they take forever to get here!)
It really doesn't cost the studio much to have the files sitting on Apple servers 'just in case' someone wants to buy it. The packaging cost is so low compared to printing and shipping DVD's all over the country/world.
So my beat, it will survive. And in a year or two, the price will drop and the inventory will increase. Thus making it worthwhile for more to use.
