afaik the service is being bought by a third party
I really hope they don't get this, why should tax money be wasted again to fix someones skrewup? I would rather see them sink right down to the bottom. They are not a competitor, but are in fact the most expensive. With the company already struggling to compete effectively with the other broadband providers Sentech may just find themselves reliant on Government funding for a countrywide broadband rollout to resuscitate their ailing MyWireless service.
But add to that the cost of the line if you don't have one and the cost of the adsl portion of the line plus the installation cost and the 1G on IBurst suddenly becomes a bargain where you can get 21GB if you use it wisely. Show me a complete adsl package to match that you can actually get installed in less than 3 months let alone 48 hours. Also, during the last 2 years, Telkom has cut it's leased line circuit costs significantly, this cost have filtered down for the ADSL users but not for the wireless companies like iBurst and Sentech.
R500 for 1gb on Sentech's flexi package? No thank you, I'd rather have a more mobile (and faster connection) via my cellphone.
Or R170 odd for 1gb on iBurst? No thanks, I'd rather spring for ADSL and get almost 3 gb out of that baby instead of the 1gb
Yup, convinced someone to not get a phone line installed for the occasional browsing for school projects and such, but to rather use the cell phone. When the time comes I will convince them to use Virgin as they don't need the premium Vodacom or MTN speed and in the end it would be better for us all and it will force the other networks to take a second look at their rip-off prices. And add to the list the fact that high end users will even pay to warn people and see the demise of a company that screws us over.I doubt! I think this is the end for sentech's broadband department.... they're shooting themselves in the foot here!
.....and once again... they are pissing the high-end users off, more often than not, the high-end user is also a user with a lot of power when it comes to referrals.
I.E. When anyone in my family, or most of my friends, want to buy broadband, they'll ask me which is the best. I'm pissed off at sentech now, so obviously I won't recommend them. (and i might add something like "buy anything, just don't buy sentech")
Technically it is probably at their best interest to keep the high-end users happy (sure I know it costs a lot of money), but a happy high-end user will recommend an exponential amount of people to sign up.
...then again... even if this doesn't work, I can garuantee you that this never came up in meetings before they decided to just backstab ALL their power users.
whatever... I've wasted enough time typing about this now... they don't need this attention.

A word to Sentech: Go **** yourself as you only overcharge for an inferior service. I can't wait for your demise.
Same story here. All I can say is welcome to life after deathI started when Sentech launched, hung on when the service got bad, upgraded to a 256 package when the surfing speed slowed down, even stayed within my limits when softcap was introduced.
If Sentech goes ahead with cancellations of the classic package they will be loosing this customer as well![]()
