A gardener, who intends pleading not guilty of murdering his employer's wife, on Monday admitted in the High Court in Pretoria that he hit Cordelia Prinsloo, 56, with a spade in October.

Lucas Noto Moloi, 33, said he did not intend killing her, as she was "not a bad person to me," but did it for the R50,000 and house allegedly offered to him by Prinsloo's former husband Cobus Prinsloo, 62.

Bail applications have been brought by Moloi, of Qwa Qwa in the Free State, and Prinsloo, from Montana Park in Pretoria. They are charged with murder.

Moloi testified that the Prinsloos, who were divorced, stayed in separate houses on a smallholding in Buffelsdrift, outside Pretoria. Prinsloo also has a house in Montana Park.

He claimed that Prinsloo asked him in September to kill his wife.

He testified that they planned the murder together for October 5, but that it did not go ahead as scheduled because the domestic worker needed him to fetch her from a shop that day.

Four days later, Prinsloo allegedly told him they should cut the property's fence so Moloi could call his wife and attack her.

On October 12, Moloi showed the woman the hole in the fence. "I hit her with the spade when she looked at it," he said.

He put the body next to a flower bed, saying Prinsloo had told him not to rape Cordelia or take her car, but to let him know so that he could "throw it (the body) away".

That night, Prinsloo allegedly went to Moloi's room and asked where the body was. He also gave the gardener a firearm and R500, telling him to go to his Free State home and change his SIM card.

Moloi said that when he heard police were looking for him, he was afraid as he knew he would never get employment again.

After his arrest, he pointed certain things out on the scene, but said the wheelbarrow and spade were missing. He also made a confession in front of a magistrate.

Moloi admitted that when he left the smallholding, he took his pregnant girlfriend and possessions.

"I left for good, thinking my life would change when I get the money," he said.

The bail application continues on Tuesday.

Just when you think things couldn't possibly get more bizarre. I'm not sure what's worse, the gardener for stooping so low, believing money will make his life better and murdering the woman, or the ex for being so callow and incapable of getting over it and moving on with his life.

Regardless, may they both rot.

Kill someone for a bit more then 4000 Euro? What people are this? I wonder how many (violent) crimes in South Africa involve 'domestic workers'.

:erm:

R50k, when you a gardner, is a truck load of cash.

At least he didn't use the weed cutter :erm:

I'd hit Fudzy on the head with a spade for R50 000

There's a culture on this continent for selling your soul for money and anything?
Any remorse?
Doubtful.
I'm told by my work colleagues that it is amazingly easy to find someone who is willing to kill another human being in the locations, I'm told R1000!

That is why having domestic workers is a no no.

what are you missing?

this happens ALL OVER THE WORLD. and domestic workers is a NO NO? what about marrying the wrong ****ing prick in the first place!?!?

wow, the gardener was clearly the mastermind behind this. let's wait for another person to shout white genocide

P.S: None of this is directed at Lycanthrope, as I know that title is from times

Don't really see why you're getting so exited. The domestic and the ex are both guilty. The ex for planning the whole thing, and the domestic for actually murdering somebody.

what i'm trying to point out is that it was probably due to circumstances rather than greed, and that not all "domestic workers" are a no no. what he did was wrong

another thread is "Woman hit by gardener", not "Gardener bribed to kill to wife". people are terrible with their headlines and thread titles, but it's whatever gives peopel a reason to complain i guess. people can sit around braais and discuss the evil of hiring gardeners in this country, which is a lot easier and makes mroe sense than ex husbands paying someone to kill their ex wives.

this is just a place for discussions but hardly any thought or common sense goes into a post. it's not because of good people in this country, but because people don't think that there is a such a huge rift between races and cultures.
Don't think I need to add more.

So why is the ex not implicated in the headline? Why is it made to look as if it's solely the gardener at fault? Surely "Gardener allegedly bribed to kill employer's wife" or some such would be a better, less misleading headline.

Don't ask me, I didn't write or formulate the headline. We all know papers like to create controversy.

Interesting how most focus on the gardener and not the ex.

Retards.

Is it not because this is the case that is heard now? When the ex case comes up his will be in the headline?

I think the report is more to do with he did not mean to kill her she was a nice lady. He did the acctual killing, but are trying to say he did not want to?

So that is what the courts have heard no statements have been made by the ex so there is nothing to report on yet? Besides that is what is already said?

i think just leaving the ex out of the headline makes the situation sound worse than it is, read some of the comments in this thread to read of people's opinions on domestic workers instead of evil ex husbands, especially sicen he could give away a house and R50 000 :) how many people would pass up an opportunity like that, even if it was morally wrong?

instead what did the ex husband have to gain from this?

No more mad cow disease?:D

I understand what you are saying. I guess the focus just lies more on the murderer at this moment than the planner. Yes the house would have been nice but if you are not inclined to murder, you would have gone to the police?

So yes people that are capable of murder given the chance to do it for a financial gain will.

This is the case the state vs the gardener not the state vs the ex.
