DynDns - NAT routing via Telkom 5102G

Afternoon all!

Tried the FAQ section first which seems to be offline, so here is my question.

Got the DynDns setup on the router which resolves fine to the address southcom.homedns.org.

Can anyone tell me how I set the thing up to forward traffic and web requests to the internal IP 210.120.0.3?

A blow by blow setup list would be appreciated...

You have to open change your NAT settings and let port 80 forward to 210.120.0.3, but it seems like you got it working because I can browse www.southcom.homedns.org

Anyway, a neat thing you can add to your nifty home web is to register a domain for yourself and let it forward to www.southcom.homedns.org. In this way, when you type for instance home.southcom.co.za it will go to www.southcom.homedns.org.

LlanoV, did you ever get port forwarding to work on your 5102G? I have got DydnDNS working successfully however I can't get port forwarding to work despite having configured my Virtual Server settings. If you have any info I will be extremely frateful!

Fix found

I did manage to setup the router. I already was able to make use of the DynDns option and with a little fiddling I eventually figured out how to setup port fowarding.

this is an old thread but after the time I've spent on this worth a try, other then the NAT - virtual server settings was there anything else required to get port forwarding working? Routing settings or perhaps to do with the LAN configuration?

ARRRGHHHHH!!! I scream a long long long time! 2 weeks I've spent trying to open non default ports with this modem.

Where I come from, Australia, a 'shaped adsl account' is an account that when it has gone over it's quota of Gigabytes is restricted to a 64kB/s speed limit down from whatever it's adsl speed is.
Apparently over here a 'shaped adsl account' is an account that only has basic port 21-23 + 80 + 110 + 443 +1503 + 1720 access! No one told me this and to me it's such a ridiculous idea I never even considered it. Once again ARRRGHHHHH!!!
This is just so out of my experience. I have never heard of such a thing. I know of ISP's blocking port 25 and a few other ports for security reasons but an actual account that only has half a dozen accessible ports? WTF!!!? So I must apologize to billion and the 5102 modem as it appears it works fine. It's the stupid bloody ISP and their stupid bloody account setup that's been causing all my grief. Honestly, I feel like exploding!
On the plus side I suppose I've learnt an awful lot about ssh and modem/adsl configurations as I've reset everything half a dozen times... sheesh.
