Confusion regarding Telkom email warning to high-end ADSL users

TelkomInternet used to send email like this about 2 years ago didnt they? Perhaps someone ran the old program by mistake

quite honestly - they cannot afford to scare off any customers at this point so close to the public launch of Neotel's offerings. I'm a High-end user and Quite proud of it - I dare telkom to blacklist me!.

So if you do get blacklisted, whats to stop you from moving onto another ISP?
Less business for telkom...they would be shooting themselves in the foot. The only reason most people go with TelkomInternet is because they know they will get more out of their "3GB Cap". I think Telkom knows this too, unfair play yes, but probably true. I definately wouldn't support TelkomInternet if I was actually capped at 3GB.

Obviously someone didnt think this through prooperly or they wouldnt be saying that the messages are Junk Mail. Once again Telkom tries to pass the average consumer off as uninformed and naive. It's either balant lies or a serious security breach, both of which I'm sure Papi must be very proud of.

It's all BS! I'm also a high end user and I haven't received such an email.

Telkom does it again

The only thing they are going to achieve by doing this is push users to other service providers, I have a telkom account along with about four others amd it is the fastest out of the lot, it is sad that they prevent the other service providers from being able to match there speed offerings and then have a power play with the people that use the speed that they offer,
its like building and autobhan with no speedlimit, but only making it 5kms long,

way to go telkom, just when we though you were getting better you corrected us.

Vote with my feet

There is no reason to stick with telkom if they have a hard cap.

Hard cap and I'll save myself the extra bucks and heartache of having to deal with these idiots... Resellers here I come.

An email sent to many Telkom ADSL subscribers is warning high-end users who consistently exceed their monthly cap that they may be blacklisted by TelkomInternet.
Who didnt see this coming? They dont have a shortage of customers and if their assertion that the overwhelming majority of their customers use around half of their cap then they could afford to piss off the higher end users.

My guess - they're doing this in order to roll out a new high cap - and more expensive - package and thus claim they're listening to their customers.

This is the kind of hog-wash from Telkom that we have become accustomed to. Good going Telkom, you are making arses of yourselves once again!

It's truly a sad state of affairs if Telkom thinks 10GB or more is 'high-end'.

What a bunch of amateurs.

Too bad they're pretty much the only only ones offering it. IS has a plethora of problems and the other saix providers either dont have the subscriber base or the willingness to implement such a system.

The whole system is a sorry state of affairs.

Another balls-up! The whole way they calculate the usage is flawed, never mind, the poor security around their ISP's services!

High end = 4.6gig (according this to this thread)

Bah telkom - pox on you.

(as someone said - what is the point of having dsl if you can't download anything) - download life - yeah right. Liars! (and proud of it.)

Then the people who set these limits must have pretty uninteresting lives if life can be downloaded in such a short time :)

response from telkom

Check out the response i got ? ... i was flawed to get a response at all... but one so short and with sarcasm... very odd from the beast. Something smells fishy.
