Clamour for a slice of action in pay-TV market

Letele reckons there is potential for a further 750000 to 1-million subscribers in the local market, largely from the emerging middle class. The pay-TV operation has 1,25-million subscribers.

He reckons that, but what about all the people who leave Multichoice for the competiton - So that means if an entrant into the market gives the public what they want they could end up with 2 million odd subscribers !

Letele says MultiChoice will not engage in a price war and has no intention of reducing its subscription costs. “Clearly, the other players will come with their smaller bouquets, something we are already into.”
But what if one of them comes with a large bouquet. Funny they don't see themselves as competing to retain their customers. Delusions a la Telkom.

Multichoice isn't a monopoly that the government gets profit from, therefore I think that they will get serious competition VERY quickly.
