[ Johannesburg, 20 September 2006 ] - Kenya is to host the first African business process outsourcing (BPO) and call centre conference later this month.

According to conference organiser, AITEC Africa, the event will be held under the auspices of the Kenyan Ministry of Information and Communication in Nairobi.

“We are delighted that Kenya is hosting the first African BPO and call centre conference. This will boost Kenya's concerted drive to become the leading outsource destination in the world,” said Dr Bitange Ndemo, Kenya's secretary of information and communication.

These guys aren't stuffing around like good ol' SA.

Moroney says the series of conferences will provide opportunities for South African ICT businesses to sell skills, services and products to the region's emerging BPO and call centre enterprises.

Pity costs are so high that our ICT businesses are starting to do busy outside of the country, benefiting these countries more than SA, and causing SA to lag more and more behind with other African countries thanks to our DoC/ICASA/Govt/Telkom (take your picks).
