German opera-goers will not be seeing that scene or, indeed, any scene from one of Mozart's most powerful works. For fear of Muslim anger, the bosses of the world-renowned Deutsche Oper in Berlin have cancelled performances of Mozart's Idomeneo.

It is insane! It is clear evidence that we live in a time of mass delusion. This political correctness is a sloppy effort at erasing history. Idomeneo is now persona non grata? Well, at least it proves one thing... mindsets of today might well be more backward than those of the folks who lived hundreds of years ago...

Its pathetic, if people can't accept satire and artistic expression then that's their problem, not ours, why should the West cave into that?

To be fair, they're probably just tired of followers of The-Most-Peaceful-Religion-In-The-World going on a murderous rampage anytime they see something they don't like. Maybe the Deutsche Oper feel that its just not something worth somebody getting hurt or killed over?

Problem is that the nutters have won this round without even an explicit threat being made. We have surrendered without even the usual token bleatings about freedom of expression. You don't exactly have freedom of speech if you feel that speaking your mind (or, in this case, staging an opera performance) will result in a bunch of mindless idiots harming you.

We could sacrifice some Muslims to Mozart

Agh this is like the whoo hah about 'Jerusalem' in the UK a few years back. A couple wanted it played at their wedding and the vicar said he wouldn't as it may offend listeners (i.e narrow minded immigrants who can't accept the fact that they are living in a society with over 1000 years of culture of it's own behind it). When it was pointed out that weddings arn't exactly a free concert, he (the vicar) still refused on the grounds a 'passer by' may hear the lyrics to the song and be offended. Madness!

The west gives in far too easily to this PCness. What about my culture? My heritage? why must I be deined these things to placate other creeds? When the shoe is on the other foot, do you really think the muslims would make such concessions for westeners?

At the risk of sounding like a comlete loon, parties like the BNP etc, if they tone down the 'fundamentalist' type side of things look very appealing. I don't like the way my heritage (in the UK) is being eroded (similar to the Afrikaner one here) and I will support a party that looks out for my interests rather than pander to a race group who make very little effort (so it seems) to make concessions that they live, not in their own country, but in someone elses. I'm not talking about Muslims who have lived in the UK for generations, but recent immigrants who expect Britons to change their ways just to suit the new arrivals.

Obviously this is based on my views on England etc. But it wouldn't surprise me if in the next twenty years or se we see the rise of nationalism again. Already people are starting to slowly swing to this way of thinking. And BTW I'm NOT talking about National Socialism/Gas Chambers and cattle trucks.

Islam is the fastest growning religon in the world and there are bound to be repercussions both socially and relgiously. It doesn't take very much to spark anti-muslim or anti-christian feelings these days. I can only wonder what would happen if something on the scale of 9/11 happened again. Going back almost a hundred years - 'A shot heard around the world' It could happen again.
