SA Good News

For how long, Have you seen the tourists that made main news due to assault and robbery's, Even the Royal family was effected as the prince's girlfriend was mugged! Now what was the odds of that happening if this news is so good! If you are blind You are blind or live in a dream world!

this is a site sponsored by first national bank. so what that means is FNB pay for this site, which more then likely means they dictate what happens on the site, but putting the sponsors propganda aside.

As a white south african i am thinking serioulsy about moving from this dump called africa. and if a site like this is meant to make me stay it aint gonna be articles like:

Love is in the air

I would like to know what this goverment is doing about crime. so far i can see nothing except our goverment feeding us lies and sa citizens lapping it up like mindless sheep. anything as long as the sh1tty 2010 soccer world cup happens right?

face it thats why people discredit and dislike neil watson. cuz he is threatening the only positive and succesful thing this country has achieved in the past 10 years. a freaking sporting bid.

sorry to be so harsh with regard to this post and good news website, but i have honestly tried in the past few months to find something positive about this countries future, besides the stupid freaking world cup, and you know what. there is nothing.

Robbers terrorise family
Farmer, wife attacked, robbed
Gang hits shopping centre

wake up and smell the coffee - thisis the 'good' news of the day is no one died.

Agreed this is a good site, but reading one good thing makes u feel good for about 50seconds about the country. for example a new mine opens in rustenburg and its a big whoop new jobs etc then another article 1000's of workers striking for a 0.05% increase in pay or 1000's of workers striking and those not striking get killed.
 
Personally I don't trust any source that inherently focuses on good news, or bad for that matter. They're effectively admitting they're not objective.
 
Syndyre : Very true. But most publications focus on the bad, as that is what sells. So this counters that in a manner, but with a blatent one sided view

True but you can blame the audience for that, not the publication. As you said, if good news sold there'd be more of it.

To "balance" the news? There are 50 murders a day in this country, 150 rapes a day, yet if you look at even the most pessimistic of news outlets you'll notice that only a tiny handful of these even MAKE the news - perhaps five or ten a day - so if anything the true horror and bloodshed in this country is not even close to being realistically conveyed. In that sense, all of our news is unbalanced towards over-optimism. Show me one major news outlet that gives the impression that things are worse than they really are.

Anyway, we already have some decent "only the good news" sites, like southafrica.info.

Shoulda followed through my idea.. a user-submitted news site with a page split in two - left half is bad news, right half is good news.. kinda balances it out.
