Zune can't sync using WiFi or connect to the Net

I'm embarassed to say that I assumed the Zune could use its Wi-Fi connection for all the usual purposes: But Engadget actually, you know, reads blogs, and found that a Zune engineer had posted a short list of what a Zune can do, and by implication what it can't. When the Zune ships, despite using standard 802.11g, it won't be able to connect to the Internet. You heard me! And it won't be able to sync with a PC wirelessly, either, only via a USB sync cable. By extension, since it can't use Wi-Fi to connect to either a network or a PC, all songs must be downloaded onto a PC and then transferred by USB to the Zune.

That is a serious shortcoming IMO...
What's the point... hopefully they will fix their blunder otherwise this product is pointless in a highly competitive market.
 
yes what is the point of the wireless module then ? Oh waits it will be cool to tell your friends my player is wireless :confused:
 
the wireless is so that two zunes can chat to each other....my zune can send your zune some of my songs which you ask for (like p2p) except on a 3x3 basis (gets deleted after 3 days or 3 plays, whichever comes first). when you sync the zune, your 3x3 list gets updated on the pc as a "wishlist" so that you can remember which songs you liked and may want to buy.
 
Usefull but not as cool as I thought it would be...... and that 3 x 3 policy sux sounds like something sony would do.
 
M$.. such stupid people. So when wil some company just remake this with all teh proper 802.11g features and sharing fuly enabled? I mean you could go to your friends PC and put whatever illegal music onto your Zune, so why bother restricting wirelss, it just makes it less usefull.
 
While if you think about it, given MSFT's record on security updates and patches, maybe it's a security measure. Imagine some dube finds a way to hack your Zune and you're required to logon to http://zuneupdate.microsoft.com (btw, doesnt exist) to get a patch?

That would be ridiculous!

Another thing... what browser would be loaded on Zune if it had wireless internet connectivity? ....uhm..... my thought exactly... Internet "unstable" Explorer!

Final judgement: No thanks!
