Hi there guys

Hows your data connections since yesterday?

I don't get any disconnects and my speed is anything between 140kb/s and 230kb/s. I never get lower than 140kb/s since yesterday.

If it stays like this I'll definately be very happy.:D ;) :p

Thanks for the update, I'll try tonight and report back. Is your datacard still resetting with the 128K sim?
 
Not on EDGE at the moment but been pretty decent, no disconnects etc.
 
Due to thunderstorms I usedVM last night and had no problems - only GPRS speeds though

How do i do the speed test.off the point, I am still waiting for my 128k VM Sim.
I ordered it weeks ago via the customer services.

Just got an e-mail form VM. They said I should get it within the next 3 days. I will wait a see.
There data deal is worth the effort in the long run.I still dig MTN for there voice packages.I hope they will come around with there data prices after number portability from 10 Nov 06.
In my opinion if they do go down to 50c(WHICH THEY CAN DO!!!),they are sure to get more Vodacom clients coming over.
 
I still have problems logging into this site (and many others) with my Virgin sim via datacard. I always have to use my MTN sim when I want to view this site. Anyone else with similar problems?

I got three resets and one data card invalid in the half hour I tested. :(
This website was very slow and I was still unable to complete the tcpIQ Line Speed Meter test. Below are some excerpts from the tcpIQ log.

Tests 4 - 6 gave pretty much the same result as test 3; a small amount of data was downloaded, then 45 seconds of nothing, then a timeout error.

From test 7 on it didn't seem like any data was going through at all, then finally I got this:

Can't say i agree. It is crawling today. Also the speed isn't constant. Slow, then slower, slow then slower. I've seen better smoother days. Hardly "excellent" speeds.
 
Our internet connection speeds are all relative to time and space (time of day vs. location) that is why we tend to disagree on the different ISP's and their services. As far as my spatial position is concerned, I get a good connection on MTN's EDGE - I consistently peaked at maximum speed lately. With Vodacom HSDPA, I get 560kbps max, less than a third of their claimed speed. VM, for me, doesn't even fall into broadband specifications.

4Mbit/s is Broadband.
2Mbit/s is High Speed Internet, NOT Broadband
128kb/s - 2Mbit/s is Medium Band
Below 128kb/s is Narrow Band

So MTN, Vodacom, Virgin Mobile and Cell-C doesn't fall in the Broadband arena. Only Telkom 4Mbit/s is Broadband, Unfortunately for us.:rolleyes:
