Leaders must tackle Internet paradoxes

One of the best articles this year! South Africa needs to become an innovator. We have thousands of brilliant minds waiting at the broadband gates. Just sad they are closed to us at the moment.

Yeah, good article, but I'm not that fond of the idea of the internet as a tool for propaganda. I realise that I'm not looking at the big picture with that statement, but just imagine being spammed all day long by the ANC or DA, I would go postal!

I DON’T like politicians, none of them!

I've long held the opinion that aside from stakeholder self-enrichment, another reason our government wants to have control over the telecoms sector is to prevent this very same dissemination of information from taking place.

If the majority of South Africans had affordable access to the Internet, the failings / shortcomings of our government would become very apparent and the practice of giving false election-promises and slow / no delivery will no longer be tolerated because the South African government will then be compared to the quality of leadership and competence on a global scale.

Excuses will no longer be enough. "We're a young democracy", "We're struggling to overcome previous era hurdles.", "We're still learning how best to approach the issue and PLAN to hold talks around the topic.", etc will be questioned by "Why does it take so long?" and "If you're not capable of doing the job, why not have you replaced?"

South Africa has so much to learn from other countries that have more experience in certain fields. Pity we're becoming like the ostrich with it's head stuck in the ground and stagnating growth, employment, telecoms and the economy.
