What is ultimately the best option (performance wise) for serious online-gaming, Wi-Fi or ADSL? I recently signed up with a local WISP in CPT (512kbps package), pricing is OK for package offered, but im still getting that inevitable high ping during online gaming... What is the prefered connection for online gamers?

Yeah, I'd have to go with the unshaped ADSL if your willing to spend the bucks on "unshaped" that is, otherwise I'd bet on shaped before going wireless

Actually the very best for playign online (bar maby diginet, not rally an option) is Wireless Online is Cape Town, no idea if there is a similar service in JHB, but WO is gamers wireless with much much better pings that ADSL for local.
People get around 9-20ms on battle.net, and simliar for the rest im shure.

Ill take one next time a WO guy is on battle.net
But ive personally seen his ping at 16ms, and it was 9 the day befoer according to him, which isnt too hard to believe.
He says he has a great connection to the WISP though, but ive heard other talk about the great gaming on WO.

No, I mean to the local battle.net server. Most ADSL pings are around 60-90 day time during the week and can go down to 40-50ms at night or on the weekend.

I signed up with WO (CPT) a while ago, I get pretty good ping on local CSS servers (30-40) during the day and sometimes a bit less at night, on the two local COD2 servers I get between 45 and 65 on local AA servers it runs between 50 and 60 (a bit high) at night, sometimes my ping fluctuates heavy (creating severe lag) especially on the AA servers (don't know if this is due to the new 2.7 version, the whole world complains about the severe lag experienced on the new AA version). I would still like to reduce my ping especially on the local servers.

hmm, well it does also depend on your actual connections signal, which could add some time to pings, especialyl when they are this low.
The battle.net server is also hosted in CPT, whereas most of those FPS servers you talk about are in JHB, but 30-40ms day time is stil better than ADSL. I heard that the pings are pretty crap on WO daytime though.. doesnt seem to be the case, but night time should be quite a bit better apparently?
Oh, I saw now that you are the poster, well if you arent happoy with WO, theres no way any other wireless will be better for gaming, but im stil lsurprised as people often say WO is better than ADSL for gaming..
Your next best choice is ADSL, preferably unshapped, but that costs R100 per gig at the cheapest, and you'll have to get SAIX for optimum performance.
