Rand going toward R8.00 to dollar

The rand always seems to magically tank before I go overseas or want to import stuff.
From an exporters point of view it seems to strengthen always when I need to buy the Rands

I hope this doesnt go to the point it was a few years ago. Not good.... is there an underlying reason, apart from the recent zuma stuff?

It works either way for me, my mom's an air hostess and gets payed in Dollars so that means more Rands
The other good thing is if it drops, she can always get me nice parts from overseas for cheap prices
