Telkom’s ADSL far more expensive than world standards

If they really were customer-centric, they would have reacted a long time ago......

[sarcasm]
Obviously this survey was skewed against our beloved provider! If our head of ICASA can't find any evidence whatsoever against them, how could an international company ever find it!
[/sarcasm]

So many articles and not one thing done by the authorities to remedy the situation.

GRRR

I'm sorry - you seem to have mistake our government for one that gives a damn. :o We also have an impotent (although they pretend they're important) regulator.

We cant do much about the government but as far as targets go ICASA is a soft one.

True, true. *think nice thoughts, think nice thoughts*

hehe, trying to bring the blood pressure down ...

Don't know what to say, it simply sucks, and worst of all these smug bastards will appear on tele with ads and sound bites telling the world how great thet are, lying through their fat cheesy smiles!

Telkom please just go burn down to the ground!

articles ?

G, i mean how many times are this subject with different coating going to be dug UP and rewriten time and time again...

we all know they are ripping us off, surly it doesnt have to be posted x amount of times a week if its been allready been covered.

Wow i never knew telkom are overcharging us! I always thought we were getting a good deal

Ok enough sarcasm....sigh if an overseas company can work this out then WTF cant ICASA??? Oh wait ICASA are getting money in the back pocket.....

Uhmmm, because if the problem doesn't end then the articles about it won't either!?

Very true....I am sick of reading these things....post something like Telkom slashes prices rather.

This report is more toilet paper for the fat cats @ Telkom and ICASA.

Everybody knows we are paying to much but the price still stays  -ning.

Whats going on?

Why does the topic of telecoms in SA not really feature on our mainstream media i.e. TV and radio? All the news reporting and talk shows deal with crime and aids etc but tend to ignore the telecoms issue which in my opinion has a far more direct impact on our economy than the other issues. Maybe it's time make more of a "noise" on, say 702 radio, requesting reasons as to why the problem is being ignored and find some way to be more in the media's "face"?

Hi Ryuji and others

I am well aware that this issue has been written about, numerous times, but what should we do when new research emerges in this arena? We can obviously simply ignore it and move on, but will this be better reporting on the local broadband and ADSL arena and serve the needs of broadband consumers better than by publishing it?

I personally think it is of value to publish an international pricing comparison on regular intervals, not only for consumers to see whether we have progressed or not but also to highlight the state of affairs to companies and government.

Regards,

RPM

Excellent question lenosb. Im guessing its Telkom's huge advertising budget that fills mainstream media coffers that keeps them quiet.

I'm sick of hearing that "Prices in SA are too high", and "Telkom is ripping us off". Almost every day there is an Article or Two but no action is being taken. Government and ICASA should wake up and take action.

true, i've hardly seen much coverage of the DoC or Icasa's suckyness of response, just coverage of how they plan on doing this and that. no damning reports on how we getting leeched and how they simply not doing anything.

True - who else is this article syndicated to?

Guavamint knows exactly what is going on...hence the continious ripping by Telkom...
