Tallboy 06-10-2006, 01:56 PM Route 66 does have South African maps. Just go to http://www.66.com. They had an add in the Vodaworld magazine a month or two ago. I haven't tried it though so I can't comment on its functionality.
Johnit 07-10-2006, 11:14 PM The Nav4all software should work; it does work on my 6680. It does rely heavily on GPRS connection since the routes are downloaded from the nav4all server. Advantages are low cost (free for now, low annual subscription in future) and local language support, but disadvantages are that you need the GPRS connection when calculating or recalculating routes. I find that it sometimes "breaks". Used with Holux GPS which cost approx 70 Euro.

The initial .za maps page (http://www.66.com/route66/products.php?cid=ZA) I landed up on was a huge let-down as it appears to support only the 'doze Mobile 5 series  - Imate, Qtek, et al ahoy! But some digging through the menu system on the left unearths options for CD-only (http://www.66.com/route66/products.php?cid=ZA&sec=7&ssec=0&prodid=2305) which at $180 (currently a hair over R1400) is bad enough, but when you get to the miniSD kit (http://www.66.com/route66/products.php?cid=ZA&sec=6&ssec=1&prodid=3008) that gets upped to $419! :cringe: (though, to be fair, you do get a whole bunch o' stuff inside), but still...! There's also an upgrade pack (http://www.66.com/route66/products.php?cid=ZA&sec=8&ssec=0&prodid=3296) which must be of some value, but I can't see it RHRN :p - and if you're already dropping that much tom on the system, it may be worth the (relatively!) 'mere' $90 expense .."in for a penny, in for a pound" and all that.
It's worth checking out the Flash demo (http://www.66.com/route66/documents/mobile_presentation/S60/flash.php?ctryISO=ZA&id=0) (upbeat but somewhat cheesy) for an idea of the UI and functionality; also, from what I saw, it looks like this is self-contained - no extra connection to get map/route data, a la Nav4all.

I have a nokia N95, so the receiver is an internal one.
As per your post, i dont think there is a patch yet, so untill then, same problem probably exists.
PS, which file has the south african maps?
