McAfee cries foul over Vista security features

So what? They want Microsoft to leave their operating system insecure just so McAfee and the rest can have a job? Idiots.

If you make a living out of filling potholes you can hardly go cry foul when the road is rebuilt...
 
this is like some company that install 3rd party central locking and alarm systems for cars complaining that Mercedes benz put alarms in all their cars standard. wtf? they must get over it.
 
If they smart they will work WITh MS to try and integrate something of theirs into the rollout of the OS instead of bitching... :rolleyes:

but then again they are and have idiots in their ranks, with John Viega ranking probably the highest among them.... :sick:

His excuses for McAfee's foulup earlier this year when they "accidently" rolled out a faulty pattern file which deleted valid documents, still chills my blood. :mad:

It's definitely on the cards, though I doubt there'll be lawsuits.
 
I honestly do not see the problem. Better security for the end user is the most important. Security Companies should stop complaining because they've chosen a path that isn't fully catered for in Vista. Rather let them go back to the drawing board and see how they can change their products to work with the new limitations AND how to work around them. I'm pretty sure that's the approach hackers will use and the sooner the Good Guys get a handle on this the better they'll be able to stop the Bad Guys when Vista is released.
 
What Microsoft is doing is stopping other programmers getting into important kernel code to track the viruses.

As always, I'm sure Microsoft won't have any problem redesigning their own software, but A/V companies who have a ligit reason to patch the kernel whilst running can't.

big round of anti-competitive lawsuits coming up, and I stand with the A/V companies here, thousnads of virus writers and only microsoft wants to ability to control how you block them... I don't think so!

After all we ALL know how secure windozes is without an antivirus, now you want Microsoft to decide how much access the a/v software author can have... you must be nutz.
