I have 3G package from one of the bigger operators. My girlfriend is looking for a wireless data package. I though since I have experience with both bigger operators, let us try the smaller one.

We went to a Cell C outlet and asked the salesman about the USB modem and what packages they offer  (you do not want to know what he told us). Since I had already decided that I want to try EDGE on their, we tried to buy the data package. The standard requirements where outlined and we did not have all the documents. Went back:mad: , got all the outlined requirements and go back to the outlet. When we were filling the form we were told about a compulsory “Itemised billing” fee of ± R22.00. I indicated to the salesman that we do not need itemised billing, just cap @ 500 Meg, We do not want to see our activities. NO, Its compulsory:mad:.Okay, we left the outlet without the data package.

Hmmm:D ! Maybe Virgin will offer better service and uncomplicated package. Went to the nearby MUSICA shop and requested a data package. The sales lady told us that they do not have the data cards YET and they do not know when they will get them. They are only available in Sandton & somewhere in THE WEST of Jozi (S#$T) .

I expected her to order one for us and it gets delivered at my door step (NO Heavendoor is closed!!!). NO! I have to drive from PTA if I want it. Okay, what are the rates of different packages? She does not know, since they will only be told about them once they have the cards in store (Who is in HELL now). SIC!

I used my 3G card to get to the internet and logged a complaint with Virgin. Up to today (It’s been a week now) I have not received a reply from Virgin. Okay, maybe I have high expectations (maybe I am in hell because I have a 3G contract. You cannot come to heaven).
I was very disappointed though but I now understood why normal people do not have wireless data or they would rather not go to heaven.

How do you get to heaven?

Hi there

First thing you have to know is that Virgin Mobile doesn't have different data packages. The best ever is that you don't have to take out a contract to pay the cheapest rates for data. You can get a prepaid Virgin Mobile sim and use it in your MTN or Vodacom data card and only pay 50c/MB for data. The only problem is that you need a 128k sim that is not available yet at the stores. (as far as I know but I can confirm that for you)

Go here: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=54814

Send a e-mail to Carmen Doyle telling her that you have a 3G data Card, you don't have a Virgin Mobile sim card yet and you would like to get hold of a 128k sim because you want to use it for data purposes.

If you already have a Virgin Mobile sim you can just ask for a sim swop. They will send you a new 128k sim and do the sim swop as soon as you receive your sim and phone them to tell them that you did receive it.

I really hope this help. Any other questions please feel free to PM me.

Regards
Piesang

I was very disappointed though You could try hellopeter which has a direct line to HEAVEN.:D
(I was told to do it once by a Virgin operator.) Answering e-mails from mere customers is above them, hmmpf!:(

I have a VM 64K sim, so how much does a sim swap cost on Virgin?

You can say that again. And I'm almost certain that there will be a price drop in the near future.;)
