Man recites 100,000 digits of Pi

When I was at school I used to memorise square roots up to the 10th digit of my calculator for numbers from 2 to 20.

I guess I shouldn't complain about the fact that I never seemed to be able to get a girlfriend at school :rolleyes:

A small price to pay for confidently being able to recite the square root of 2 :D
 
It is usually written out to a maximum of three decimal places, as 3.142, in math textbooks, so the reason for memorizing it to 100,000 digits is beyond us.

I suppose he decided he wanted to be known for something. Also I suppose the skills associated could come in handy for various mathematical pursuits.
