We are using 4 VX40's at various points around our property and the biggest problem is the false alarms. No matter how many times we change the settings we still get them.

If this lives up to it's rep, we would gladly replace the VX's.

Are you looking at purchasing or importing them (if they are not already being distro'd)?

Is the VX40's not "Pet Safe", or what causes your false alarms?
I am also looking at maybe installing VX40's, but if they cause lots of false alarms I am not sure it's the way to go...

ic: Do you have a price on those units?

We have 5 dogs (2 miniature Daschunds, 2 full size Dachsies and 1 Foxy X Dachsie).

Still have no idea what keeps setting them off (the VX40's, not the dogs:) ).

They go off approx. twice a week.

I am also looking at perimiter beams ... someone told me they have about 1 false alarm per 2 to 3 months. Will try and find out what they are using.

My wife will have a heart attack if the alarm goes off twice a week

I also have quite a few false alarms.

One of the problems could be Gecko's. They can crawl in anywhere.
The other is birds. A birds wingspan can cover both of the optical beams thus triggering it.

Weird thing those beams as I have witnessed the most extreme conditions with rain pouring and the wind blowing it's @rse off and they didn't go off at all.

The last 3 days has been odd as the Outdoor Beam has gone off 3 days in a row early evening, between 6 and 7pm. I think it is a bird, but it also may be just the beams. Who knows.

If I could replace them with something better I would.

Beams needed

We have had intruders on our property this week...

time to get beams! We don't want to spend alot of money.

What do people recommend? vx40's or dg85's?

We cirrently have 4 x VX40's which we are quite happy with. In the beginning we had a number of false alarms, but after some tweaking, they operate perfectly.

I cannot comment on the DG85's as we have never had the opportunity to use them.
