What more could I say? I want to upgrade my CPU! Everything in the title is important, the socket 478, the EXTREME EDITION can be 3.2 or 3.4! I might consider a P4 3.4 HT with 1MB cache if I can't get an Extreme Edition!

Hi There,

Im not quite sure if u actually get an Extreme Edition in 478. They first Extreme Edition I saw were an LGA775 with 800 and/or 1066MHz FSB.

I would suggest if you go and buy urself an Extreme edition, replace ur m/board with something like an Intel D955XBK or bigger. I use the 955XBK and its a B R I L L I A N T motherboard! U will only get better performance using the correct hardware with the Extreme Edition.

As far as Im concerned, there' is not a 478 motherboard with the Extreme Edition's needs.

I might be wrong, but that is what my research is concerned.

Get a Core2Duo E6600. It outpreforms all extreme processors. (bar then E6670 & E6800)

Hi, I'm not interested in Core2Duo thanks, that would mean a complete upgrade! My machine is heavily modified and overclocked with extra cooling! I'm ONLY interested in the Extreme; mainly because when they came out I couldn't afford them and I've always wanted to take it to 4GHz! I have a socket 478 mobo that takes the 3.2 & 3.4 EE (if I can get a 3.4 EE, I believe I'll reach 4GHz)! I have an overclocked 2.6 which is now 3.1GHz, overclocked RAM and overclocked AGP GPU (which is running close to a 7800GT PCI-Express). My system is 100% stable, 3 years old and it runs every game I've tried at maximum res/quality 1600x1200 perfectly!

Anyway, get me a EE and I'll give a stock Core2Due a run for it's money! Bessides, price/performance, my PC kicks ASS!

[This is mostly a matter of getting the most bang for buck and pride!!!]

I think there was only P4EE 3.2GHz has 2MB L3 cache in s478.
