WISP in Klerksdorp and Stilfontein area?

I recently noticed wifi antennas at businesses in and around the Klerksdorp and Stilfontein area. Does anyone know who these guys are and what the speeds and prices are?
 
I've seen boards advertising the wireless internet all around town on the way to orkney. If you want the company's telephone number just take a drive behind Senwes Head Office, there's a blue board by the circle. I'll pm the phone number, not sure if it correct, I took it down while I was driving & didn't ever phone them.
 
They probably have an uncapped ADSL account and share it between them, sharing the costs, although there is a local company offering wireless internet in Klerksdorp, I think it's KOSH Communations, check on the axxess website for their details
 
Just one quick math question....

If they share an uncapped ADSL :
R 516 for ADSL line rental
R 3078 for Uncapped ADSL from Megaweb
= R3594 p/m

So if they have ONLY 50 Clients, their cost-price per client = R71.88
So if they charge R143.76 they make 100% profit p/m?

Is that correct?
 
Sure, assuming they have a 4 meg line, 50 people = 82 kb/s.
1 Meg / 50 = 20 kb/s
 
I found that theres a WISP in Stilfontein, i THINK (im not sure) they are called Vision Computers or something. They charge R2400 Installation and R220 p/m

Sounds like theres quite a few WISP's in Klerksdorp. :p

Anyone know more about the WISP's in Klerksdorp and Stilfontein Area?

Hi there
I'm currently a customer for wireless internet with Visioncomputers. They charge me R200 pm for +- 2 gig to 3gig. The connection though is only at 15 kb/ps. Very slow though, but better than R700 for ADSL!!!!

You can get 384 ADSL for around R269 including Telscum ADSL rental & 32GB cap, check www.cybersmart.co.za

BTW, is visioncomputers in Stilfontein.

My work currently joined KOSH for 1 gig for R199 p/m, for 30kbps.
I don't use it though, the office lady for banking purposes only. They are wireless and goes as far as Orkney area. Installation was I think R2500-00
They also have a option for hire to purchase p/m

We have started our own little WDS type Mesh here in Klerskorp at La Hoff (10 WDS) + Flimieda (1 WDS bt expanding and linked to La Hoff) and Irene Park (1 AP in test). Do no charge access to the "backbone" but share a 4M ADSL at a low flat rate to provide funds to grow the project. Link between La Hoff and Flimieda is 630m with one end still using a 2dBi cheating a bit with a small DStv reflector mounted behind it. Getting >1Mbyte/s LAN and 420kbyte/s iNet on that link when flying solo. To evaluate WRT54G(L) soon and extending to Wilkyville (1 AP in test).

Hey guys

I would reccoment getting routerboards rather from the start, it doesn't work out that much more expensive than wrt's but its much easier and usable.
