In plain language does this mean:
Me activates the stuff.
Me moves into Botswana
Me gets call from South Africa
VC charges me R17.50 to receive the call.
Me gets another call from South Africa
VC charges me nothing to receive the call
Me calls South Africa
VC charges me only rates as if I'm in South Africa.
Me returns to South Africa
Me gets a call in ZA and VC charges me R17.50 return fee.

Where do you get the R17,50 from?
The way I see it:
For receiving calls overseas you get charged a once off charge,whatever that is, no more intl rates to receive calls.
If you call SA or the country you're in you pay the once off charge and then normal SA rates.
For other calls you get charged a connection fee and normal SA/Telkom intl rates.
Wonder if the calls are going to be routed by VOIP back to SA?

This only seems to benefit those wanting to make lengthy calls. Seeing that you pay the R17.50 connection fee for each made or received call, this can work out more expensive if your calls are kept short? Or am I missing something?
Depends on your roaming charges I guess. When I was on MTN a couple of years ago I got charged R50/min for outgoing calls from Heathrow and only found out when I got the bill.

That's what I thought! Luckily I was only there in transit so didn't make too many calls, if I was there for a while it would've been really sh*t.

Not really, outgoing roaming rates from other countries are ridiculous.
you mean outgoing from other countries to just SA or anywhere?
Both, in country they're usually not too bad, not totall sure though, most of my intl calls when I'm overseas are back to SA anyway.

I'm still waiting for the day I can use my cellphone and roam from one room in my house to the next without the signal dropping.
I'd never trust Vodacom/Vodafone's international roaming options. Easier to purchase a simcard in the foreign country and use that for all calls.
