Technology’s role in delivery

THE State Information Technology Agency (Sita) is hosting a conference this month to meet private sector companies and thrash out how technology can improve government services to the public.
Simple - acknowledge the fact that those with the power to improve systems and processes do not know what they're doing and replace them with people from the technology industry and with a determination to bring about actual service and not just lip-service. In the meantime, sack ICASA and the DoC and use video conferencing facilities to obtain input from any panel of experts in the US / Europe or the Far East on what it means to open the market, encourage competition and foreign investment and most importantly the perils of self-enrichment and stuborness to ask for help on issues that have long been resolved in developed nations. Just ask for help - it's available. There's really no shame in admitting South African policy makers are not up to the task.
