I placed my pre-order with BT Games because I would like to support one of our few dedicated gaming stores. Anyways so I ordered GW-Nightfall and then they offer me the bonus pack for R50. Seems decent so I say go ahead. I am told because I am pre-ordering I also get R25 off the R300 retail price. I am again happy. I walk out the shop feeling happy with my purchase, game and bonus pack for R325.

I later find out that I will not have my game on release date (no reason given) and what really irritates the crap out of me is I see Digital Planet has the game and bonus pack for R233.70inc VAT.That is close on R100 difference!!!!

Screw that, BT you have now lost all future purchases from me!

I have only had good service from them. On pre-order and otherwise. Have 2 pre-orders "waiting"....NFS Carbon and Test Drive Unlimited. Was already warned by email, in response to another query I had, that NFS might not be available end of October due to EA monthend procedures and to expect early November. Good work from Shannon :D

So just because you didnt look around when you did your purchases you blame BT Games?

Did you order the GW:Nightfall SE or the normal game btw?

I ordered the standard ed with bonus pack (R275 + R49). I phoned and after 15min find out that the shop are just idiots and are supposed to give you discount if you buy them together. They have also never heard of the customer is always right approach and it is really not cool to get angry at a customer when they have a valid point.

I also placed an order with them and thus far not too many issues, just had to remind them to give me my discount. ;)

Didn't get any notifications that my order will be delayed, so here's to hoping :p

PS> I'm in CT so doing all my stuff online and via e-mail.

Have brought the matter to the shops owner attention? She can usually and happily will sort out these matters to the customer's satisfaction.

BT Games

I made a comment earlier about BT Games...

To quote Mircosoft

“Xbox 360 will be following an aggressive pricing strategy and consumer retail prices for the games will range from R199 for classic gaming titles, with a R499 ceiling price for triple A collectors editions,” says Cindy White, Microsoft group marketing manager for Xbox 360.

Right...

- BT Games - Tomb raider - R575 - def. a ceiling price there :(
- Take2.co.za Tomb Raider - Our Price: R 420

I wont buy from BT Games

Hold on a second, if you say u pre-ordered the GW Nightfall std edition at R275 and you took the GW Pre-order pack then the R49 u paid for the pre-order pack comes off the price of your pre-order. Ie : R275-R49=R226

I do believe that you are saving R7.7 so whats the problem???

Maybe give Shannon a call and let her know, she will help where she can. I do not think the comparison between BT and DP is valid....DP do not always hold stock so you have to wait...

Right...

Wrong!!!! Take 2 is selling an NTSC version (direct US import) for R420, the normal version sells for R542 incl. but excluding R29 delivery and the waiting period. This makes them R571 for the same game and R4 cheaper than BTGames which im sure they wont mind reducing if you ask nicely. I just wish u okes that are posting this crap would wake up and do some research before you post senseless posts!!!!

Let me tell you the catch here. Tomb Raider is region free, thus what Take2.co.za has is the NTSC-J copy from Asia which is the cheapest region you can buy games from.

All X360 games from BT Games are from the EU which are PAL. Thus the price difference in SOME titles will always exist.

Now to base your decision in not buying from BT Games because of ONE game out of 20 is just.... your choice. I hope this explains your price difference for the game you love to quote. ;)

EDIT : Bummer... i had more text to write thus my 2nd place in the same post. :p

As I stated, I would much rather support BT than any other e-shop. I think it is great what they are doing for gaming but I think they just need to refine what they are doing and their business practice.

I did speak to Shannon and in fact it was her that got stroppy with me! She did also rectify my problem but I kinda walk away from it with a bad taste in my mouth. I came with a valid point and she gets heated up. If you deal with customers you will deal with criticism and you must know how to deal with it, listen to their griefs and help make a solution, don’t fight. Even if you are right you don’t walk away a winner.

Another of my issues was BT's differences in pricing. How can your online sales division under-cut the prices of their own franchisees. Because of BT's mindless practice I will never support the physical shops because I can order the game over the net, have it delivered to the shop for free and pay for it at the shop for cheaper than it is to drive to that shop, pick it up off the selves and pay for it. Honestly I don't see that as sensible business practice at all, why under cut your own branches.

BTW its not a franchise. The online prices are cheaper because they are wanting to promote online orders and there are no admin costs involved in online ordering which means you are saving at the end of the day. Just another way they are helping their clients and making gaming in south africa BETTER! You are an isolated case and make me  with ur petty complaints. Its because of ppl like u that makes sales ppl want to leave the industry!

So as a consumer, if I have a gripe I must sit back and take it?

I also work in sales and find that most ppl have valid gripes and a small minority of those gripes are just to defame the salesmen or company and find a fault with something for the sake of it. Salesmen are told all the time that we must sit back and take every1's ****. So give the sales guy a break, he is human aswell and maybe he is learning the ropes of pre-orders and could not relay the correct info to you upon u doing ur pre-order. Just chill.

And also BTW, I know everyone uses WA as an example and now I will too. Have you ever seen how they handle complaints? They take the complaint and they help you out with it. You start off frustrated and irritated with your problem and generally walk away feeling sheepish that you got hot under the collar in the first place. You never walk away cursing. If they are at fault they always try and offer a solution and will admit when they are at fault. It you are at fault they will keep quiet about it and help you see where you got frustrated.

I am chilled, I just have a gripe and am making it known. This was no learning error either!

After speaking to our Pavilion Manager it has come to light that they had decided to only deduct the pre-release pack at launch.

Give the guy a break

I have been on both sides of the counter, and I know that sometimes clients can be difficult, and sometimes sales people can be difficult as well, the problem with James was that most likely was angry with the store and took it out on the sales lady, and she obviously got irritated with him because it wasn't in her hands.

In a situation like that, you should make your complaint with top level management.

By the way, has anyone had this problem with BT games, I gave them a ton of second hand games in exchange for credit about 7 months ago, and I have never been able to use my credit, they always say there is a problem with the system.

Surely they should offer me my games back??

Mail [email protected] with ur issue. I highly doubt they would have given you credit and then kept saying the system is down. Please be more specific with ur posts...

I am over it, I if I get my game on the 27th and a credit note passed or my money back I will be stoked. I don't like to spend more than I have to and from now on, if BT games has the right price I will buy off the net and just collect it from the branch. That way I get my discount, sorry to the shop owner, and sales people.
