Ubuntu 6.10 to be released on thursday

And I've just spent time downloading the various ISOs for this damn thing, and then I discover that the new one is out soon. Arrgh!
 
And I've just ordered Dapper Drake to be delivered.. I think i'll rather download 6.10 before the CD's arrive.

Would there be any way to just update my 6.06 to 6.10 if I get the install DCD's for 6.06?
 
Beryl is sort of like the XGL+Compiz thing but its more stable and natural looking

@Eknaatvensters yes you can upgrade online (quite big about 500MB) not too sure if you can upgrade using an install disk but im sure there must be a way
 
So when can we get it, im thinking of just downloading this one.

its the end of the month and have about 300mb left, so ill use that up and download the rest with capped speeds. iBurst btw.
 
what are the main release differences? Im running XGL and compiz currently on 6.01. what would i need to do to update to the latest version?

will sudo apt-get upgrade sort me out, or can i just change the repositry source list to the latest version and run an update from there?
 
W1z4rd if you go into the update manager it will tell you a new version has been released and let you update from there.

I want a local mirror cause I wanna blow some local cap from my IS account lol.

okay, I was just wondering if they really were out yet.

I'm not going to bother with the local mirror, it will probably just be slower, I have about the same speed internationally as locally when it comes to downloading.

It will be my first time on Linux though.. :D

Wish me luck, im not looking forward to trying to install my wireless PCI card.. supposed to be very tricky if you have some arb brand like me..

Yes you can just do a "sudo apt-get dist-upgrade" or use "update manager".
I'm on my third Kubuntu distro now with only upgrades. No need to do a clean install - the upgrades are really amazing.
