For a complete dumby: What's the best Broadband?

Hiya

New poster here and I'm completely new to this.
Basically I'm looking to finally upgrade from the mill-run days of dial-up to the high-speed broadband stuff people have been throwing in my face for years now.
So, my question to you, who are [hopefully] the experts, is which of our local South African broadband service providers is the best to go with? Should I go wireless with i-Burst and such? Please, any info you can spare that will help with my decision - from pricing to packaging - will be muchly appreciated.

If you go with any Wireless connection you better have very good signal. And hopefully they don't just chuck the modem in the ceiling. 3G is unreliable. ADSL seems the most stable if you don't need mobility.

iBurst - ugggh

give iGrot the boot, their "48 hours" connection time - is well shall we say - more like 48 days. If you do go with them, don't even mention the word Credit Card - they'll get all flustered.

They are bloody useless, get a fixed line connection - yes you have to get it from you-know-who, but you'll be better off.

Look to the rest of the world, fixed line (ADSL, ADSL2+, fibre) is the way forward, don't get locked into their cRaZy R2000+ modem nonsense.

My 2c worth... take it with a pinch of salt.

1.Get your line from theftkom. (may take a while - tell them the regs say 30 days. It won't help but it'll make me feel better)
2.Purchase a modem.
3.Go to www.openweb.co.za. Mr Beep will sort you out!

skype voice might be audible but slightly delayed cause I got 64k home user.
All my downloads have been succesfull first time, even in bad thick cloudy weather!
I'm 2km from their nearest tower, u just need a faltpanel and u'r up-and-running. within 7 days, not 8 weeks.
I picked up 4 towers in my area. They are everywhere.
If you have a laptop and walk around CT, you will c them on your normal built-in wireless adapter. They also allow "roaming" around their towers. they are like hotspots.
