I dont know if they are so fly-by-night, there are a lot of these small providers in Cape Town especially in the Northern Suburbs, and many of them are legitimate.
But you should try and get someone who uses the services opinion, they could offer terrible speeds in reality.
Yup that's more or less the way I feel about them. Just seems to be a bit of a problem to find someone who uses them. Also (hopefully) I will only need to use wireless for a few months till I get ADSL installed. So I'm not realy that keen on paying 2,5k for an installation.
If you are only going to use it for a few months then rather don't use some small WISP with huge installation costs..
The cheapest startup costs would be iBurst, but still quite a lot. If you would be okay with 3G using your phone in the meanwhile then you could do that, but no high usage for you.
Been looking at iBurst, but like you said, still have to buy the modem at high cost. 3G will work out soo expensive, 500MB will not cut the cake I'm afraid. Oh the joy which is Telkom...NOT!
I wasint even aware of this thread....well anyway I know quite a few people that use just wireless...and they're more than happy with the quality and service
hehe thanks, but after implementing my master plan to get my ADSL moved. I had Telkom begging at my feet to offer me the service yesterday and for free...well, that's how it went in my dreams anyway
Got my ADSL moved in only 2 months and 10 days, so not needing wireless anymore.
