Anyone experiencing problems with data on Virgin today? Late afternoon, cannot get any traffic. Log on, can ping - atrocious rates 1500-2000 ms but still get a response. Anyone know why Virgin allows ICMP on their network? Seems a little dangerous!
Having a similar problem. Takes a few tries before I get connected and it is SLOW!!!! I don't know how much more I am willing to take before I move over to some HSDPA goodness...

I am in the same boat... if virgin dont improve, ill just cut down on my usage and switch to MTN bundles @ R1/meg... am sick and tired of suffering this horendously slowwwwww speed
I am finished with Virgin. It is extremely slow during the day. I just happened to be awake two nights ago at about 3am. THEN the connection was flying.
Vodacom's HSDPA is now my connection of choice.

Also getting really sick of it now. Luckily I'll be at home with ADSL for most of the rest of the year, if they're still having issues by next year then I'm definitely dumping them. That R220 for 350mb MTN bundle's quite appealing.

ok-just did some troubleshooting. Using the Hauwei E220 usb device from Vodafone. First two days of using virgin, no problems, hunky dory. 3rd day can't surf - all browsers on my powerbook can't load pages - just waiting for a reponse from web servers - But can get and send email on mail client
Nothing changed on my powerbook. So kept on trying and assumed it was a network fault. been 4 days now with no call backs from data support until I kicked up a fuss and was told this was logged with cell c and a known fault for a week!
but here's the funny part-loaded this on a winbugs machine just to check and lo! - it works! writing this from sharing the connection.
So this implies that either the driver for the mac has a 'problem' or something did change on the network which is what I am leaning towards. If I use the vodacom sim with my device, no problem - surfing fine but this is on HSDPA. Have not been able to simulate on GPRS as this can't be done on the Mac. (correction - I don't know how to :-) )
Anyone else has a similar setup?
