Elo. Seeing as our situation down here is pretty unique in some ways I thought it a good idea if folks share their p2p experiences here. NO, I am not refering to good sites where you can find stuff, but client side tips. Stuff like opening up the UPLOAD bandwidth to get quicker downloads on Torrents and the like. When is the best time of the day to download etc.

Lets see how this thread moves along. If it is as handy as I hope it can stay stickied.

Ciao

TIP: Keep the upload bandwidth setting as high as possible if you want something to fly quicker down to you using torrents... This may seem like suicide seeing as caps generally are measured on the combo of upload and download. It does however ensure your download speed is quicker and may actually make quite a difference in terms of getting the download done and being able to stop all unnecessary traffic...

i prefer not to do that. Why because sometime there are other uses that may need a file from your uploads folder for the network and before you know it there is 300 megs uploaded to there pc via the p2p.
I usualyl keep my upload band small.as i do leave my pc on at all times.tou never know, anything can happen

When using p2p progs, not torrents...if you download something and the speed is slow.right click on the file and search for the same file again. You'll notice your speeds will increase.

I don't know why,but it works...

esp in limewire i noticed this works better than clicking search for more sources........:)

ROFL. Funny. I find simply searching for "Britney Spears" wakes the link up too...

I've found a company that looks like they don't mind running software like torrentflux. It's a bit expensive since you have to take one of the bigger accounts, but I'm convinced that it's worth it. http://www.hosting-ie.com/

Grandmaster!!! WOOT!!!! lol :D.

Seriously, I think opening the upload speed to its max in your torrent client helps, but for someone with a 384kbps line (like me :( ) this will not help much. I'm gonna upgrade my line to a 4Mb line though:D

My upload and download ratio on my ADSL line is 1:3, that means that for only 1 week in a month I can actually download, afterwards I need to upload for 3 weeks before my torrent ratio would hit 1 again.

My general P2P tip is to use DC++ instead, where ratios don't matter, that way people with uncapped accounts pick up the slack for the leachers- people without uncapped accounts.

It happens again Greenlab
Downloading and after 15 hours no Seed anymore is really a joke,
but it happened before so, avoid Greenlab Torrent site

Hossie - you are just a bag of hot air - you must have very little to do during the day - I think you must have a very sad life, I really hope before you posted this - you put a post on the Greenlab site asking why the torrent has stopped???

Maybe the machine rest or power cut? who knows - I would love people like you not be allowed to post on any sites or for that matter be allowed any oxygen - you waisting good oxygen - Like Einstein said

Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

Sorry but Greenlab.co.za is seeding again, slow but then no loss.
But than "Thanx for all your valid advice"
Appreciated

It is me again, and sorry that I upset you all, but after my general complain on MYADSL all of a sudden the torent was seeding again even much faster.
I just want to apologies to all and will in future not complaim in this way again. I also first read all arguments given by the members 10 minutes ago
and saw only then that I made a big mistake. So, I hope you all except my sincere apology

Make sure to turn seeding off, or at least limit as much as possible. 4kbps is the lowest BT will do.
