X360 on LG 42" plasma

Need some advice, got em LG 42" plasma with HDMI input... thinking of getting an X360 ...
Know i now the whole thing about LCDs being better than plasmas ...

1. are there any issues playing games with an X360 on a plasma ... would like guys with plasmas and X360s to reply to this?

2. also the HDMI cable .. is the X360 compatible with this ... does it come with such a cable?

3. Pro version or normal version?
 
Hey buddy, i got an xbox 360, playing on SDTV though, no worries cashing in my student loan for a HDTV soon :)

No it isnt compatible and no it doesnt come with one. The premium package comes with a component/composite cable though which is what I'm using.

Apparently the core version of the 360 only comes with the composite cable.

EDIT - I'm playing mine on a plasma at 720p and it is awesome and as saffakanera said - get GOW :D

It would be best if you buy a VGA HD cable if your Plasma supports a VGA connection.

What are the specs of your plasma btw? Native resolution?

If your native res is 850x480 then your plasma will downscale 720p to fit that res.

I see that take2 sells the cable - was just about to order it when I realised I'm already using that port for my Mac Mini :o

Is it that much better than using component video?
 
It depends on your HD TV set actually, some work better with component and others with VGA HD... so if you can borrow a cable to test it would save you money. ;)

I'm sorta running out of connections back there - the only one I had free at the time that I got the 360 was the component so it worked out ok :)

I'm going to try moving my mac mini from the vga to the dvi and see if that makes any difference - that would free up the vga.

I guess it all depends on how much better things are and if I want to spend hundreds of rands on cables. :o

If you can afford a 42" plasma, why not buy a descent AV receiver and let that manage all your inputs. You will have one or two cables running to your plasma (One from the receiver and one from your desktop) and decent sound to compliment your display.

dont forget to switch that little thing on the back of the tv fron "tv" to "hidef" .. i thought my 50" plasma was broken at first and wouldnt work with my xbox

yes the plasma is 850x480 ... but will it look cr@ppy?
42PX4MVH <- this be the model LG one i got .. got it for R10k so thought it was a bargain for a brand new one with warranty

It wont look crappy but there's little point paying extra for a HDMI cable unless you're running short of ports in the back. Unless I'm way off base 480 is pretty much standard tv resolution.
