How to change DHCP IP Range on X-Micro Wifi Router

I am trying to get a neighbour to join my ADSL connection using a WiFi connection. My current setup is a non wifi Router / Modem on my PC (1) with a X-Micro WiFi Access Point on my router up in the roof. The idea was to connect a Wifi router to the neighbours PC as he could not sit in a line of sight position in his home, but the router would be on a cable in a line of sight situation.

Trying to get it set up last night with assistance from my son in Colorado we came to a stop when the X-Micro wifi router model XWL-11GRIX on PC2 only had the IP range 192.168.62.* and my setup was 192.168.1.* There appeared to be no way of changing the wifi router on PC2 which was connected via the LAN port.

Once set up on PC2 I then connected the wifi router to my PC1 router and tried pinging. Timed out but one could see the lights flashing. How does one change the wifi router DHCP IP address range to my range. I would prefer not to change my side range to the PC2 IP range. My son also suggested that when I get the IP addresses resolved that we swap the wifi to be a router on my side and the access point on PC2 side.

Please can anybody help.

If I understand you correctly:

1. AP on your side with the ADSL connected.
2. Client Wireless on neighbours side connecting to your AP obtaining IP from your AP.
3. Both PC's are connected via cable to the wireless routers on each side.

Where are you pinging to? Router or PC, Windows and or a firewall can be setup not to respond to pings.
Does the AP show the neighbours connected client?
The IP addresses dished out are configured on your AP, not the neighbours wireless.

If I understand this correctly, then i've had this issue as well. What I found was that because I was connected to the x-micro router it had assigned an IP based on the 192.168.62.* range. When I changed this to 192.168.0.* range I could not ping. The way to overcome this was to change the IP on the router, then unplug network cable, wait a minute or 2, then plug it back in so as to assign new ip on new range, then I could ping the new IP.

You have hit the nail right on the head. Only one problem, how do I change the router IP address. I have looked through the configuration and could not find anyware I could change the 3rd set of the IP address.

Once I have the IP addresses figured out, would it be better to have the Access point at my end and the router in the other home or vica versa?

Before changing the 3rd octet of the IP, make a note of the default gateway and dns server IP's, should be the same as in 192.168.62.x. This is the 1st group scope, you can always just leave that group scope and just add a 2nd IP group scope of 192.168.0.x

Try using the IP subnet of the XWL-11GRIX router on pc1 then there would be no need to look for the config for changing PC2 router.

Or just to make it easier, get both routers to your main pc, access each one's config menu, one at a time and set them up one by one with your desired IP subnet of 192.168.x.x, once you done it, go to PC2 (neigbour) and try to access the router config menu. Then start cabling are desired between pc's and routers. All done, start your ping test to check for comms between pc's and routers.

Once that's done start your wifi configuration and take it from there.
