It is very slow most of time, something like 3-5Kb/s, but it is suppose to be about 20kb/s(192k), sometimes it is fast, but only very few time.

Because I am runniung Linux as well, I received a proxy address from openweb(I am not gonna show it here;) , but it does not always work.

I know OpenRouter is a great idea to browse by using your local bandwidth, but the slow speed really drive me mad.

I am even thinking switch back to telkom recently.

What are you guys' feeling about openrouter?

BTW,OpenWeb's new client area is awesome.

Hey man.

Much better idea is to keep your openweb account, buy some topup international bandwidth from webafrica, use ant1b0dy's routesentry app to run all your local traffic through the openweb account and all the international through the webafrica one. Speed will not be an issue, and routesentry works 100%.

i mean i think its well worth 200 bucks :) and i would gladly pay that for it

In that case openrouter won't work :(

But if you do some research you will be able to write and run your own script to set up routing to the correct accounts. Something similar to the project some where on these forums to make the router route the connections, but instead of using the router your linux machine routes it.
 
Guang is correct, openrouter is very, VERY!! inconsistent. When I joined openweb MrBeep and the boys were bringing out new versions (presumably because one always aims for improvement) all the time. But we have been on this v0.10 sometime now and I doubt it's the perfect app now. A update is needed!

Or could it be the servers through which openbrowse traffic is routed with this app that are causing the problem! :confused:

I also get a little frustrated because I am often told that it's my firewall that could be causing the problem; I don't really want to go online without a firewall! :eek: (I have switched off my firewall and tried by the way, still find data through put to be inconsitent)

P.S. Just this morning my openrouter was local only for quite sometime, not to mention the poor speeds!

This morning we had major issues with equipment failure due to some storms.

However, we have everything back up and running now, so speeds should increase drastically.

Please restart OpenRouter, and let us know.
 
I think the thing is Openrouter is more for advanced users. I even struggled when I started using it but you begin to see patterns and know when to reset it ect. But yeah would love anything to make m life a bit easier. :)
 
If you're running Linux then get rid of the Open Browse account and go for :
* 1 x SAIX account for international bandwidth
* 1 x OpenWeb local-only account for local traffic

Then put your router in bridge mode and set up the two connections with pppoe and route all local traffic via the OpenWeb account and the rest via the SAIX account.
I set up my Kubuntu Dapper box like this last week and it works like a charm!

When my PC boots :
ppp0 connects to SAIX based account (3GB)
ppp1 connects to OpenWeb local-only account (30GB)
Shorewall firewalls the two connections

I know Routesentry long ago,but I prefer my computer to be behind the router.
Now I will try bridge mode.
