Best Pay as You Go plan in UK?

Which provider is the best to go for in the UK for Pay as You Go?
 
When I was there last year for about 2 months I bought an O2 sim card for about £10, came with some bonus top up. Depends what you do, if you are making more calls than receiving then maybe Orange, Virgin etc. have better plans

Vodafone all the way. :)

Have been with BTCellnet (now O2), One2One (now T-Mobile) & finally Vodafone (saving the best for last?).

How are you? ;)

As an ex-pat I'd recommend O2 for best coverage and reasonable charges. They also have all sorts of "bolt on goodies" like text bundles and low cost overseas calling charges.

Price wise, Virgin Mobile wins hands down but is a 1800MHz network (running as a VMNO on the T-Mobile network) and coverage does not match that of O2.

The one not to choose is Orange! Its the only network I've ever seen that has an identical "spoof" site called dump the lemon!

If you're not taking your own handset with you, keep in mind that ALL Pre-Pay handsets are network locked. All networks except Virgin Mobile charge a fortune (disguised as an administration fee of course) to supply the network unlock code(s). Virgin Mobile will supply the code(s) for free provided you have spent (or topped up with) at least 30 pounds of credit, you don't loose any of the credit VM just want to ensure you've paid them at least 30 quid!

I have O2, Virgin Mobile (UK) and Vodafone (UK) SIM Packs here if you need one before you go... PM me...

In the UK the Recharge becomes a "Top Up" and all SIM packs come with a credit card style swipe card that you hand over (with your money) to top up the credit on your phone. Almost every supermarket and fuel station will display the green top up logo... So no more entering twelve digit PIN codes!

Last time I was there most of my mates were using virgin so it made sense to do the same - cheaper rates that way. :)
 
Well... They all are expensive :-P I dont think there is a better-evil than the other. pick one thats convinient. If you use the phone for outgoing calls alot, then it will hurt the pocket. also, most of the phones are network locked, but for £20 it can be unlocked by the network. (Thats Vodafones price)
