I have been capped for several days now, apparently, and since then, I have used my cellphone's internet to check on my my usage statistics. Why, you may ask?
Well, I was capped rather early, and I made sure that I did not download anything large that will lead to a capping. In fact, I hardly downloaded at all. JUST surfed the web. mostly Digg and the sites it links to.
But the point is, I was capped. I suspected something was off. Every other time I have been capped, it has been because I download a bit torrent file, or similar. The odd thing is that every other time, my Router showed no IP address at all. No sign that it is connected. However, this time it did.
So, back to the usage statistics. I kept checking them, and to my horror, my account was apparently downloading very large amounts of GB. For instance, on the 16th, the combined total was 6.07 GB (which is absurd in its own) and on the 17th it was 7.25 GB. That amount is completely ridiculous, to say the least. Both those days, and days before that, I was capped.
So, I phoned Telkom Internet Support, and told them about this bizarre apparition. The guy I talked to said that he can see that there is clearly a problem and will forward my request. The next day, that is today, I received I call from a guy whom I could have sworn to be either dead or the undead. He sounded miserable. Anyway, the point is that he said that there is clearly nothing wrong with the account. It is most probably I virus, he said. It CAN be a virus, but I am using Ubuntu Linux. (I have also tested the account on my Windows hard drive.) He said it can be blamed on excessive downloading and no one else is using the account, apparently.
So, to say I am not satisfied with that is quite an understatement. He seemed to have forgotten that my account was still downloading after I have not had access to the internet and that the account still downloaded large amounts while I was still uncapped.
If anyone has ANY advise at all at what the cause could be?
Thanks a million!
