hey there, can one make a video call to another country? for example i'm in SA and someone is in Canada with a 3G phone, can i make a video call there?

Im on Vodacom with a Nokia N70 and I make regular video calls to my sister in the UK and she is on the O2 network. Works just as well as here with no lag whatsoever. It is very expensive though, havent found out how much but believe me its VERY expensive!
mmm but it works... nice. i figured out now that www.fring.com works on my n70 as well so i will use that for now, the video to my sister in canada will just have to wait a while

yes but unlike vodacom, mtn charges more for video calls. mtn you pay R2 per minute, vodacom treats it as a normal call, so free minutes apply, and so on.......
So I can video call an MTN subscriber from my Vodacom phone, but it will just not come off my free minutes, and I'll pay R2 per minute?

I've had customers offer conflicting reports on international video calls. Most seem to have had calls from the UK (in the main) with success. But I've had comments passed that calling to the UK is rather hit and miss, but then again one can not tell if the called party is actually in a 3G coverage area in the UK.
If you want cost effectiveness and you have a 3G handset, why not try a video call using Skype and your PC?
On a slightly different topic, I've also heard complaints that SA users have trouble sending MMS to the UK. This could be down to the lack of agreements for charging?
