Hey guys and girls.

I have two contracts, one MTN (main) and my vodacom (secondary)
I got my nokia N70 on the vodacom contract vodafone live enabled, I personally despise the branding, hense me taking it to Nokia and getting the vodafone firmware flashed off and buying many covers so I dont have to use the Vodafone branded cover I was given (it ticks me off, i bought a Nokia handset, not a vodafone handset, i dont want it saying vodafone everywhere! GIVE CUSTOMERS A CHOICE!)

Now, I would still like to have the option to watch vodafones live mobile tv, but according to them, you have to have the vodafone live firmware on the phone, which I dont want, all i want, is to watch vodafones mobile tv on my now NON vodafone live enabled handset. Is it possible?

Thanks

Silent Bobby

I had it running on my CellC sourced Nokia 6680 without a hitch; you just need to provide the Vlive URL if I remember correctly. Just by the way, I could get rid of all Vodafone branding on another 6680 by changing the settings.

Surely you did have a choice? No-one forced you to buy this phone, how can you buy something and then complain about it?

And then on top, you want the functionality back the phone was designed to provide in the first place.....

rofl, no, i did not have a choice, what I want is my phone,(which i have) with the original firmware from nokia (which i now have) and i would like to use vodafones services.

I dont understand how you find me complaining about it, i just would like to use the services I am entitled to use, but with having the original firmware from nokia!

So what i want, is, to be able to watch mobile tv with my vodacom sim on my phone without having the branding, has anyone been able to crack this problem?

You were forced to buy a VLive phone????

wow, I'd go to the police if I were you, did they hold you up at gunpoint to force you to buy the phone? How did they con you into buying something you did not want in the first place?

First sign of a collapsing government, when the free market system (where consumers have a choice on what they want to buy) collapses.

Or did they just lie to you, telling you it's not a VLive phone? If so I'd report the dealer in question.

BUT, if you willingly paid for, and got a VLive phone, how can you complain?

When you bought your last car / tv / hi-fi, did you also claim a few days after the purchase that it's not what you thought you bought?

Yip! You need to have VLIVE provisioned on your sim, I only found this out on the P990 after I got it unbranded, then went to the internet icon and it brought up the Vlive site.

okay I have gotten it to work.

Neo you are misunderstanding what I am saying, Vodacom does not give the customer a choice whether to buy a vodafone branded phone or a non branded phone THEREFORE THEY DO NOT GIVE YOU A CHOICE, it is a vlive phone take it or leave it.
I bought the phone willingly, why, because I wanted the N70 and vodacom had the best deal available which was the only deal I could afford, so like most people a went for the good deal. I am not happy with the amount of branding, and just by the way if you buy a product you have every right to complain about it if you do not like a thing/things about it.

SO LISTEN TO ME NEO, I WANTED THE NOKIA N70, WHICH I GOT AND AM NOT COMPLAINING ABOUT IT, I AM COMPLAINING ABOUT THE AMOUNT OF BRANDING AND THE FIRMWARE VODAFONE PUT ON THE PHONE.
DOES THAT MAKE SENSE TO YOU?

Why are you slateing me? Many people buy things, they have their Pro's and Con's.

People buy a cars, but realise the chairs might not be comfortable after days of use, so now they are wrong for complaining?
People have a right to complain, it advises other people about the problem and in some instances the company that sold it to you.
Complaining fairly is a good thing, you may just may not realise it.
I have not heard of a single person saying they love their vodafone branding.

Dont know if you know this but MOST new phones that you get through Vodacom on contract are vlive branded and the Nokia N70 phone is a bit dated now so I would assume he bought it before number porting became available.

So to keep his number with Vodacom he had to get a Vodacom phone and with new phones theres not really a choice but to get it vlive branded phone even if you dont like the branding.
