Iphone Time

mmmm yummy ... that device looks pretty cool ... its about time Apple step up their game ... the i-Pod saved their bacon, now lets see what the i-Phone can do ...

Cingular is just a partner for the US sales.

The only time I'll be wanting broadband is when I'm home and thats where wifi comes into play.

Besides, try downloading a movie off iTS via 3g and at r2 per mb it will be the most expensive one you'll ever see. :eek:

EDIT - a few sources cite the size as being 10mb per minute of video.

that is on par with the time i stopped off to buy some smokes at a corner shop and got a R 300.00 parking fine ... so it worked out to R 316.00 for a pack of smokes ...:sick:

At r2 per mb it would cost r2846.72 to download and watch Cars.

Thats excluding the $15 for the movie.
 
The iPhone is scheduled for release in Q4 in Europe, so SA should get it at around the same time.

The problem is gonna be the price: I mean, if it costs $600-$800 in the US, it is gonna be at least R7000 here, knowing how well Core Group loves to mark their products up. That is a lot for a phone, even if it is revolutionary.
 
When the iPod Nano was released here, weren't the prices quite fair, in comparison to to US and UK prices?

UK and SA prices are generally close - close enough anyway to make importing from the UK kinda pointless.

US prices are considerably cheaper for most apple products.
 
I was gonna start a thread like this :p , this phone looks sweet but from a size point of view it looks huge

this device should filter through the apple distributors ... so it looks like i have a reason to go visit the boys @ Digi Cape ...
 
Not what I've seen.

Big screen telly in UK: 700 quid
same product here: R15,000

A CPU cooler I am purchasing is R600 here and 15 quid in the UK, fortunately I have a friend coming down in March.

I've no idea how the importing thing works, I wonder how much of the high price is exchange+import costs or exchange+cost+evil...

It's an apple phenomenon. They exert strict control over the pricing so there is little latitude.
 
if im not wrong i believe this phone was used as a spy tool in the new james bond movie kewl...
