Hi guys

My buddy has a Dynex webcam but having trouble running it on his macbook G4. It keeps showing black and he can't get it to show anything no matter which app, whether its yahoo messenger, skype etc. Any ideas how to get it working? Would it help by installing the maccam driver?

Thanks

Maybe give some extra detail like OS and webcam versions numbers?

I don't know that product & my isights rocks... sorry:)

Apologies, it's running OS X. Not sure of the webcam version number but after a bit of googling apparently maccam allows most USB webcams to be used by various different Mac OS X video-aware applications. Gonna speak to him later so I'm not sure if this will work, but it sounds feasible?

We use it almost daily to and from the UK and it rocks.

The newer versions of skype for mac aren't too bad... though they could step up the resolution.

I just purchased a Dynex webcam at Bestbuy ($15) and it works fine.

I had to download a plugin (June 2007) from Dynex to get Skype video to work, and it needed some software assistance from ecamm (www.ecamm.com/mac/ichatusbcam/), a $10 program which enables USB webcam in iChat. After a re-boot it all works great

Just go for the drivers updates or visit the site for assistance...there might be some solution there..Personally I use Logitech QuickCam Communicate STX Webcam with my http://www.rhubcom.com turbomeeting appliance as well as with skype for all kinda business communications online..Its been 15 months since purchased and there haven't be any issue at all.
