Hard Drive Problem "H: is not accessible. The wrong diskette is in the drive. Insert (Volume Serial Number: ) into drive H:"

I had a popup saying that some files were corrupt on Drive H:, so I went and tried to open drive H:, but I got the error message above. Everything was working fine, just suddenly I got a popup stating the error. The HDD is a Western Digital 200GB (actually 186GB), the partition that has the error is 127GB, the other partition is about 58 GB and is woking fine. I also have another HDD with 2 partitions which are also woking fine. It's a PATA HDD.

Has anyone experienced this problem and know what the cause and solutuion is. Someone please help as I have a lot of files on there that I need to access.

Yeah, even tried running scandisk but it freezes at step 4. Then I tried chkdsk in recivery console but it says the disk is unreadable and can't scan.

Sounds like the partition is stuffed rather than the drive itself. I guess it's time to reformat the partition. Suggest it's formatted as ntfs if on a 'doze box.

With Chkdsk I get this:

Critical Master file TAble (MFT) with MFT mirror
Step 1>
Deleting Corrupt file record segment 0
Deleting Corrupt file record segment 1
Deleting Corrupt file record segment 2
Deleting Corrupt file record segment 3

Step 2> Index Vefification

Step 3>
Inserting Data Attribute info file segment 0
Inserting Data Attribute info file segment 1
Inserting Data Attribute info file segment 2
Inserting Data Attribute info file segment 3

Step 4> 0%

Gets stuck on step 4, nothing happens

It was NTFS, but now it shows: File System as RAW, USed Space 0 bytes, Free Space: 0bytes.

It's a 127GB Partition with some files that I need
