Hey , where is my 3G ???

As of last night my 3G signal has dissapeared. If and when I do get 3G coverage it is from a tower that is much farther away and then I have little or no signal strength.

Does anybody know anything about towers that are dead in the Bayswater Bloemfontein area ?

It seems that the tower closest to my home at Northridgemall(noordstad) is on the blink. It shows 3g Icon on my phone but with no signal. also no tower name or 'Yello Broadband' like the other towers do.

Could someone at MTN confirm this ???

anyway someone did something cause it looks like my 3g is back as of about 9am this morning.

I see that my 3G is working again , so I am happy. now I just need to go and get a prepaid sim and load R100 data bundle cause my databundle for the month is kaput already. whould hate to swop sims all the time though.

Don't worry Henno as mentioned we working on invoking access for life for data usage as well at the moment the only way to keep it up and running is by making a voice call, sending a sms or loading a bundle

U0644B1 went down on the 19th 16:00, and never came back. I reloaded the site this morning, and all should be fine now.

We had about 10 cells down this morning on BLRNC1, and it seems nothing happended to them over the weekend. Most of them went down on Friday afternoon.

All of them are back now, after we reloaded them.

the problem is that I use my p990 as my 3g modem. If i get an extra sim it would mean swopping sims before I connect to the net and then swopping back so as to use my number wich is my bussines number.

what is the cheapest way to get a second 3G modem / phone / whatever

I have a 100mb data bundle loaded on contract.

As far as i know I cannot load another 100MB on same contract.
Data for the month is used - now out of bundle rate R1.50/mb
but if i get another sim and load 100mb then data = R1.00/mb

that is a R50 saving per 100Mb.

If i need more data than prepaid sim allows , I will go and buy another prepaid sim with 100mb .


thus end of the month 300 mb of data = R300 + 1.98(two sims)

If i use 300 mb on my current bundle then bill comes to :
R100 for original bundle + 200Mb @ R1.50 = R300.00

Total R400 for 300mb.

R100 saving,.
