Memory For Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 (with limited local options)

Hi all. Getting a GA-965P-DS3 mobo with an E4300 chip. System will be non-overclocked (perhaps a little on occassion, but generally not). I need some stable and reliable RAM, which has no compatibility issues with the board. Plan on getting 2x512MB DDR2, and these are what I believe are available locally (at sane pricing ;) ):
- Transcend JetRam DDR2-800, CL5, 4-Layer PCB
- Kingston ValueRam KVR800D2N5/512, CL5, 1.8v
- Kingston Hyper-X KHX6400D2/512, CL5, 5-5-5-15, 1.95V, with heatsink
- Kingston Hyper-X KHX6400D2LL/512, CL4, 4-4-4-12, 2.0V, with heatsink
- Super Talent 512MB DDR2-800, CL4 (unsure of which one exactly, Cyberdyne does not specificy, anyone know??)

...and there are also kits available:

- Kingston 1GB, CL5 (5-5-5-15), Kit of 2 (KHX6400D2K2/1G)
- Kingston 1GB, Low-Latency CL4 (4-4-4-12), Kit of 2 (KHX6400D2LLK2/1G)
- Kingston HyperX 1GB, CL4 (4-4-4-12), 2.0v, with heatsink, Kit of 2 (KHX6400D2LLK2/1GN) - [I believe this is optimized for nForce SLi though]
- Corsair TwinX XMS Pro Matched Memory (2x512MB), 6-Layer, Heat Spreader, LED Indicator, CL 5-5-5-12 (TWIN2X1024A-6400)

Which you guys would recommend? Essentially I just need the most stable/reliable. Also, I am quite keen on DDR2-800.....but, will it at least be utilized well by a system not heavily overclocked?

Transcend JetRam DDR2-800, CL5, 4-Layer PCB

I have two of those (2x 1GB) works great on my GA-965-DQ6 running an E6600.

The matched pair ram is usually much mroe expensive and offers very little value for money in terms of extra speed. Unless you're a hardcore overclocker, don't waste your money.
 
Yeah, the Corsair matched pairs are indeed more expensive. The single-piece Kingston isn't that bad (ends up being around R400 for the 2x512MB than the Transcend).

Yep.

Rather go for two sticks of 1GB, more more value than spending it on lower timings, blah blah blah.

I stuck with Transcend since Rectron didn't have Corsair and I've msotly dealt with Transcend for the last 6 years or so and they've never let me down.

firstly is the 965 chipset good for overcloking the this cpu?

get the e6300 cpu with jetram 800 and overclock to 3.22

remember core 2 cpu's run well with certain chipsets
 
Cool, thanks. I remember though they had the 6-layer Transcend....sems like they stopped bringing them in, brought Corsair in lieu of them.
 
I haven't OC'd mine yet, but I've read the Gigabyte 965-DQ6 motherboard (which I have) overclocks very well, this uses the 965 chipset.

umm what is the point of getting an E4300 if you not overclocking, it is presently rated as the most over clockable chip in the world and so so so easy to overclock even on stock cooling. Just confuses me as does someone buying a E6000 series and not overclocking, just go for an AMD then and leave the overclockable chips for us overclockers :)
 
Lol...because the aim of the system is something quick but cool, quiet and efficient. The E4300 is just the ticket....the option to overclock the hell out of it still remains, and at stock it runs much cooler than the AMD chips (except for the 35W "Energy Efficient" version of the X2 chips, which are not available here and doubt they will be).
 
bru its not an option even if you only overclock it 50% the temps wont change

once you hit 80% you will need a better fan
 
I have the same mobo and ran it with OCZ DDR2 8000 (1000mhz) and it ran like a dream. I do not over clock and it was a bit of an over kill so I have since sold it and am running Corsair DDR2 6400 (800Mhz) matched 1Gb pair and it runs perfectly. I am very suprised at how hot the RAM gets, it reaaly, really cooks, the north bridge too.

If I were you I would invest in some aftermarket cooling for your RAM and for your bridge, I too am not OC'ing, I did run quiet comfortably at 2.8Ghz by changing only a few settings and it was stable.
