Bid to save black-owned operators will only burden councils

And again I would just like to repeat the following: There would be no need for USALs if Telkom was not allowed to treat it's licence conditions like toilet paper.
 
Has it escaped govt that most of the USAL operators are in the poorest parts of the country and by default the poorest municipalities in the country? Where in the world would these poor municipalities find money to support private companies to expand their services? Sure, the municipalities would benefit, as OR Tambo & Amathole does. However, most others that have USAL operators, such as uMkhanyakude, Zululand and uMzinyathi in KZN, dont have "rich" municipalities to lean on with big pockets full of money.

I believe its another ilconceived idea by the DOC to shift its responsibility onto others in an attempt to hide its ineptitude.
 
Sigh. Did Government not realise this would happen?
 
Lol give people R5m bucks and they still can't turn a profit??? I think most of the 5 million was spent on BEEmers and now they need to be bailed out again..
 
Why are there USALs? Wasn't/isn't Telkom supposed to be providing service to under-serviced areas in accordance to their mandate? (the very mandate that effectively made them a monopoly)

the extent to which the USALs have been set up for failure and are still being frustrated in any plans to get anywhere is criminal - watch this space there is going to be a lot of noise
 
Telkom will make sure they don't suceed.altho telkom is supposed supply those area in the first place
