Exactmobile offered them 5 mill and they turned them down.

I very surprised that no one took on Mxit long ago, they have no competition in SA.:rolleyes:
 
Do you have to pay MXit over and above the normal charges for data transfer? If so why don't people just use a free service like Jabber or GoogleTalk?

Only if you use chat rooms etc., normal chatting between 2 people is free.
 
MXit is free for normal usage.

But you get charged when you want to use, for example, the adult chat zones.
 
i wonder how long it's going to stay free.....
 
If Mweb and Multichoice (ironic that it's called multichoice btw) is anything to go by, it won't stay free for very long.

I doubt they'd start charging for the messages themselves, the price is the main attraction to most users and it'd be too easy for them to change to another product.
