Vodacom selling iPhones? Watch this space

Vodacom will offer Apple's music-playing iPhone as soon as it becomes available, says the company's chief communications officer.

No price estimates were given, "It is premature to speculate on pricing." said the company.

The all-in-one media device, due to launch in the United States this year, was unveiled this month.

What I am interested in is if VodaCom, Virgin, etc will make the neccesary changes to their network to support visual voicemail (random access voicemail).

Has anyone contacted any of the cellular operators to find out about this?

I haven't looked into it but my bet would be no. It will involve them taking a cost for no increased profit. The only thing visual voicemail is good for is customer experience and we all know how high that ranks on SA's companies lists.
 
I'd say vodacom would have as good of a chance as anyone apart from one thing - Apple went with Cingular (AT&T) in the US instead of Verizon which is part of the Vodafone group.
