Sounds like people weren't using the sims any more anyway.

Vodacom said it was monitoring MNP but it was doubtful if full number portability would ever be a fully viable option before all networks were fully based on internet protocol.

What do they mean, portability between fixed and mobile networks?
 
go ahead vodadump. see if you get people coming to your network again, maybe those people left the network anyway for a better service.

If they aren't using their sims then why not send a reminder sms to say recharge soon or use it more. Vodacom knows how to send their subscribers messages as we know. :rolleyes:

If they are getting calls incoming then they are using it. So what if it doesn't generate a fat profit.

This is a crime-ridden 3rd world country and there are many people who may be keeping their sims for security or even just to keep a number alive.

If there is no activity at all then I can understand the reasoning, but low revenue generation shouldn't be the only factor. This is just greed.
 
What I understood from the article is that the only activity is people calling and getting diverted to voicemail, which may as well be no activity.
