Anyone care to explain to me what kind of hard drive i need for a old p3 pc? I see s-ata and p-ata etc and not sure. heh, last time i bought parts or looked at equip lists it was just IDE :D

true, but my one friend disabled it in the bios and let windows detect the hard drive or something like that? does that work? I mean i've seen it at his place work.

The BIOS will detect it just fine, and that's the way to go.

I've seen 80GB drives running perfectly on P2 class PCs, even some P1's. The only real size problem I've seen was the old 486's that didn't like drives bigger than 512Mb, that was a long time ago - so I'm not sure.

I know of at least one person who had issues trying to get a 160GB drive running on a P2.

Stick with an 80GB IDE PATA drive, you'll be fine.
