Any chances of M$ SA also providing this option ?
Summary : Purchase the Windows Vista Ultimate retail boxed product, and you can upgrade up to two additional PCs in your household to Windows Vista Home Premium for only $49.99 ($59.99 CAD) each.

Cannot think that they wouldn't. If they don't they can blame themselves for piracy.

they can still balme themselves for piracy

if they sold windows vista at 20 dolla tons more ppl would buy it and they would make a killing

instead they charge more and get pirated more

not a clever business

but who cares about piracy when your a 50-100 billion dolla company

It's not that expensive... You can get them for the following:

– Business – R1085
– Home Basic – R675
– Home Premium – R865
– Vista Ultimate – R1465

Not even that much more expensive than XP. It's only when you buy them in the shops. These prices excludes VAT.

True. But those are only to be sold with hardware SlickNick.

who told you, you have to buy hardware

i bought mine without hardware

their profit could be alot more if they sold it cheaper

per unit profit not so large but volume profit could double

No if they are dsp as long as the retailer doesn't open the packaging it can be sold to the end user. If he opens the packaging he has to install it on a new pc and sell it like that.

I saw an add at Incredible Connection the other day that Windows Vista Ultimate goes for R4999...who in their right mind will pay that:eek: ?

I'm on Vista now...It's a great OS, but not for that price!

Just came from Makro, they have Vista Home Premium on special for R999 incl VAT.
Did not get it though - budget this month is terrible.

Thats incredible ripoff from most other SA online etailers you can get ultimate full version for R3700.

If you want better pricing without buying Upgrade or DSP editions. You could just buy normal retail versions from the U.S where you can get Ultimate FPP for R2,800. Home Premium for R1,600 and Home Basic for R900.

BTW MS recommended retail price for Vista is $399 which is not R4,999 but R3,000. Its not hardware and MS exists in SA as Microsoft so there's no shipping charges and the like. AT IC you're getting charged R2,000.

I wouldn't buy it at IC or any place that sells it at more than R3,400 maximum.
