The latest version of Skype for Mac 2.5.0.85 allows a haxie that will enable 640x480 pixel video chat instead of the standard 320x240 resolution.

I tried it on my LAN and it seems to work fine. Apparently some users have experienced problems, so use at your own risk.

I havent noticed much improvement to tell the truth. Skype video isnt in the same league as iChats.

Agreed, but Skype is a lot more ubiquitous than iChat, so I"m happy that its getting better.

AOL IM is still fairly prevalent - esp in the US.

Talking from my POV - only a couple of people have macs, most just starting to get broadband and Skype.

The way I see it is many of those with AOL IM (which is compatible with iChat obviously) have had it for years upon years even from their dial up days when it wasnt worthwhile to have skype installed. :)

Let's have a (up to 8?) way video session some time to test it and just for fun... who's in?

Can you do 8 way vid conference on skype? I though that only 1-1 was possible.

I dunno if the res issue is mac only. The mac version has been lagging the win version in features.
